Spanning multiple continents this internal BBC promo film was made to highlight the ‘interconnected-ness’ of the many different parts of the BBC’s international operations.
All UK stuff was shot on an EX-1, god knows what the overseas material was done on but it was cheaper than sending me out there to do it.
All the SD footage I used I uprezzed in compressor, partly out of curiosity and partly because I wanted an HD master. The results were variable, suffice to say the better shot SD material uprezzed significantly better than the rough stuff. But even the the rough material looked a lot better uprezzed than simply upscaled in FCP.
I stole the Heroes concept of grading each location with a different colour to help identify a change in location. We initially had grand plans of the ‘segway shots’ being things like identical cups of coffee but in the end had to go more simpler stuff.
